The First Few Days of Warlock(s) of Firetop Mountain

Image
The first few adventurers have entered Firetop Mountain: Brave Joseph started things off. He was eventually clobbered to death from behind and turned into a zombie. Pearl followed. She found Joseph standing around with four much more rotten zombies, and killed them all. She is still in the mountain, getting gassed to sleep over and over again within a maze. Young Skipward entered, killed everything he saw, (except for some Orcs in a kitchen), and decided to escape with a huge jewel and key labeled '111' and is on his way back to the closest village. The takeaways so far: Combat as written is incredibly boring. I am planning on switching combat to something closer to DCC RPG once the Warlock is defeated for the first time, and scaling Orcs to be nearly as strong as starting characters. The book assumes players are making maps, which doesn't really work for the pace of play here. I've added a rule that allows for Testing Luck if lost, which allows the character to stumbl...

“The Warlock(s) of Firetop Mountain”

Being The First of a Series of Assaults Against Interactive Fictions In A Persistent World The Seed An unending line of adventurers wait in the foothills of Firetop Mountain. Each day one embarks on a mission to defeat the Warlock dwelling within. Most die, or fail, but each leaves an impact. The first adventurer enters the ‘game‘ on Day Zero. That adventurer experiences the ‘game’ as written, though they are not limited to the choices given, as The Author shall adapt in real time to other choices. The second adventurer enters the ‘game‘ on Day One. Whatever the first adventurer did on Day Zero, remains done. If the first adventurer remains within the Mountain on Day One, dead or alive, the second adventurer may interact with them. ...and so on. A new adventurer enters each Day. Should the Warlock become too powerful for a lone adventurer to handle, parties of adventurers may band together. Each day after Day Zero, the Warlock and his minions perform some maintenance on the Mountain. ...

Omni-Dimensional Combat: The Table

Image
“Attacking the Character Sheet” is the thought behind creatures and spells which do damage to characters other than by reducing hit points or statistics like Strength or Wisdom. It includes curses that remove letters from your name, traps that blot out inventory slots. If it's written on your sheet, it's fair game. These are Seventh-dimensional attacks against the reality simulating the character. “Attacking the Table” includes these and similar strategies. The Contraption of Albus, Who Saw Much Albus’ Peeping Player Albus built a fifth-dimensional telescope the size of a mountain. With it, he claimed to see the thoughts spinning within a God's brain. He knew things to come, saw through walls, knew his enemies intimately. If a player character were to take possession of this object, the intersection of the those five dimensions and ours would take the form of a toy periscope given to the player of that character. This would then be useable by the player to peer over the du...

Singleton: Divinity, Patron

Image
No God is Zero* . Azathoth is Two† , as Azathoth defines what is Azathoth and what is Not Azathoth. Singleton is the Mystery of One, the Universal Fulcrum. A Very Small Slice of Everything Singleton is the union the Lowest Five Dimensions, where the curves of each fold, become creases, and coincide. To directly experience Singleton is to experience all possibilities of all places at all times. To indirectly experience Singleton is to experience a silvery, tentacled thing of indeterminate size, tearing everything apart and rearranging it again as if One were playing with One's food, which is still weird but much less cosmic. Only those who directly experience Singleton may bond with One . Singleton may not be truly invoked by those bonded to One , but powers may be drawn from the memory of the Planck time unit spent by the bonded creature within the glory of everything, all at once. Singleton exists in every metaphysical level of Over and Underworld. Singleton is the One thing tha...
